With 2019 around the corner, Sustainable Cleveland is gearing up for a monumental year. Fifty years have passed since the Cuyahoga River Fire ignited not only a Cleveland waterway, but a major environmental movement. (The fire is credited with sparking the first Earth Day and other advances.)

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary, Cleveland will celebrate "Cuyahoga50," a series of 40+ water-focused events throughout 2019 designed to "celebrate clean water and ignite future action through storytelling, discussion, and debate."

On top of that, Sustainable Cleveland will also celebrate its tenth anniversary next year—the culmination of Mayor Frank Jackson's decade-long initiative to transform Cleveland into a "green city on a blue lake."

Along with hosting a recent meetup at MOCA, the organization recently launched the Cuyahoga50 website to kick off the celebration and inform Clevelanders on what to expect. Check it out here.
