Oluremi Ann Oliver is an early childhood consultant, storyteller and member of the committee that awards grants through Neighborhood Connections. She is passionate about issues that concern parents and children, and feels that neighborhood grassroots projects have great potential and can be used as an important tool for community development.

Oliver is also a member of the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers, which is hosting its seventh annual storytelling week this month: "Finding Solace: The Story That Heals" kicks off at 7 p.m. this Sunday, September 18 at Karamu House, 2355 E. 89th St.

“Stories can be magical," says Oliver, "not because they are sometimes whimsical, sometimes fantastical. They are magical because beneath the imaginary lies a truth that re-awakens that truth in us ... just like magic, we are there and we remember."

Here is a glimpse of some of the magic Oliver taps into through her storytelling work with youth and community members in the Hough neighbhorhood.
