PHOTOS: the beauty is in the details

Builders of yesteryear embellished the homes and residences along the historic section of Franklin Avenue in Ohio City and Detroit Shoreway with a host of fascinating details. Meticulously crafted wood that's been reanimated with eye-popping color and intricate stonework combine for a visual feast rarely enjoyed by Clevelanders zooming by on two or four wheels. Even an observant pedestrian might overlook these careful brick patterns and slices of gingerbread.

Now courtesy of Fresh Water managing photographer Bob Perkoski's keen eye, they are here for all to enjoy with a steaming cuppa.
