In collaboration with the Burning River Foundation, Fresh Water is sponsoring a photo contest in honor of the 45th Anniversary of the last burning of the Cuyahoga River. In anticipation of the upcoming Burning River Fest, we want to see your best water-themed photos – from the winding Cuyahoga River to majestic Lake Erie. Show us just how far we’ve come since that fateful summer of 1969.
Contestants must submit their digital photos by the deadline of 5 p.m. on July 21 to photographer@freshwatercleveland.com. Entries must include name, age and address, plus the location of the photo, date the photo was taken, and description of the scene. (By submitting a photo to this contest, contestants agree that it shall be considered property of Fresh Water Cleveland and can be used in the publication.)
Picking the winner will be Fresh Water managing photographer Bob Perkoski. One first prize winner will receive two VIP tickets to Burning River Fest and two 2014 Burning River Fest T-Shirts ($140 value). One second prize winner will receive four general admission tickets and one 2014 Burning River Fest T-Shirt ($80 value). One third prize winner will receive two general admission tickets to the Fest ($30 value).
Winners will be announced in the July 24th edition of Fresh Water.
The 2014 Burning River Fest will be held July 25th and 26th from 6-11 p.m. at the Historic Coast Guard Station at Whiskey Island (2800 Whiskey Island Drive, Cleveland, OH 44102).
The Fest will feature live music, fresh food and chef demos from local farms and eateries, educational exhibits, artists from the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Parade the Circle and a special appearance by Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Christmas Ale.
Proceeds from the Fest benefit the Burning River Foundation, a local non-profit organization that has donated almost $400,000 to date towards the sustainable future of our waterways.
