Cleveland Pizza Fest

Saturday, June 13 Noon -12 pm
Sunday, June 14 Noon - 9 pm
Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds 19201 East Bagley Rd. Middleburg Heights
General admission: $5 Kids: $1

It’s like speed dating, but for pizza. Whether you love a Chicago-style deep dish, New York-style thin and crispy or you’re more of an oven-baked Margherita type — you can pursue the perfect pizza this weekend.

“Cleveland is all about the food. It’s about getting people together to try new things and for the exposure of new places. It’s a way to sample eight or nine pizzas in one day and you can't go wrong with that!” says Tracey Bowman, director of entertainment for Cleveland Pizza Fest.

Pizza Fest will include nine pizza vendors and nine vendors selling italian sausage, pierogi, french fries and other snacks. They include Pizza 216, coming soon to downtown Cleveland, Angelo's (Lakewood), Mama Juliannes (Strongsville), Augies (North Royalton, Chagrin Falls and Independence), Angies (Independence), Scott's Fire & Ice (Hudson), Corbos Bakery (Little Italy), Pizza BOGO, Dominos, Sue's Homemade Pierogi (Slavic Village), Eva’s Original Gyros and Euclid Beach Custard.

Rick and Allen Perk, sons of former Cleveland Mayor Ralph Perk, founded the event 26 years ago and hosted the event as “Pizza Bake-Off” in Cleveland for two years and in Columbus for two years. And as they began having families, life got busy and they fell out of hosting the festival.

“During one of our Christmas parties years ago we found plates that had the festival logo on them and we said ‘we should do it again!' — now we’re here,” says Bowman. “We’re an Italian family, we’re about togetherness and nowhere in Cleveland has anybody done anything quite like this.”

The pies will be judged in five categories: sauce; crust; toppings; people's choice; and the “best of” in each category will be awarded trophies. On Saturday, there will be a pizza eating contest for charity benefiting the Tony Turchi Foundation for breast cancer research.

Pizza Fest also includes live music, activities for kids and a very important "Sports Pavilion" with multiple TVs for the June NBA Finals.

Friday night is motorcycle night — bikers plus their guests are admitted free. Saturday there will be Classic Thunderbird Cars on display from noon until 5 pm.
