A Star-Spangled Celebration
On Wednesday, Aug. 7, Cuyahoga Arts & Culture will host its annual Star-Spangled Spectacular concert at Mall B on 300 St. Clair Ave. This year, the Cleveland Orchestra will perform. Pre-concert presentations will begin at 6 p.m., live performances will begin at 7 p.m., and a fireworks display will commence afterward. Food trucks will be open to the public. Hey there, neighbor
On Friday, Aug. 9, the Cleveland Public Library will host a “Be My Neighbor” day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Children ages three through eight and their parents are encouraged to attend this event, which is all about supporting neighborhood families and being a friendly neighbor. A few presenters include Caring Cubs, Cleveland Metroparks Eco-Explorers and over 20 community organizations. Parent resources, trolley rides and refreshments will be provided for attendees. A festival of fun
On Saturday, Aug. 10, Ward 10 and the Famicos Foundation will host the 41st annual Glenville Festival at Sam Miller Park. Festivities include a boxing event by USA boxing, a children’s spelling bee and interactive games. The event will officially begin 9 a.m. with a heritage walk, and end with a fireworks display, which is set to start at 9:15 p.m. Learn more here.

Hey entrepreneurs! LaunchHouse continues to offer a free lineup of events each month at both its Lakewood and Highland Heights locations. Case in point: a free Lunch + Learn on "Marketing Strategies That Sell" with All Trades Jane's Camille Brown on Thursday, Aug. 15, and a mid-morning workshop on "Core Strengths to Success" with WorkLife CLE's Dr. Casey Onder. Both events will be held at the Lakewood location.
Totally awesome
Have an awesome idea that could help make Cleveland a better place, but not sure where to start? Join the Awesome Foundation-Cleveland chapter for an "Awesome Hour" on Monday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.! Attendees will learn about how to apply for a $1,000 Awesome Foundation grant, meet past and prospective grantees, network with Awesome Foundation trustees, and have fun. (And did we mention the free appetizers?) The event will be held at Gatewood Work/Share (818 E. 185th St., Cleveland) in Collinwood.
Art in August
LAND Studio, Cleveland Public Theater and Ward 3 Councilman Kerry McCormack will partner with Tremont West Development Corporation to present professional dance and theater in Lincoln Park throughout the month of August. A rocking happy hour
Yuengling has partnered with oWOW Radio Cleveland to present various happy hour concerts every Wednesday this month. Each performance will start at 6 p.m. at Music Box Supper Club, and doors will open at 5.
