Chamber Music in the Galleries

The Cleveland Museum of Art is hosting a concert featuring student musicians from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a joint program with Case Western Reserve University. Convencion Hispana ’19

Jose Feliciano headlines a full-day event of music, empowerment, kids crafts and more. Activities include a job fair, a resource fair with more than 100 booths, raffles, food, workshops and free health screenings, culminating in music by the Grammy-winning singer and guitarist. Kids Music Day

You might need to play guitar to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but youngsters can see what it feels like to pick up a guitar inside the Rock Hall at this musical petting zoo. They might even end up a rock ’n’ roll god. Other instruments available for sampling include ukuleles, keyboards, and dozens of percussion items. Hosted by Keep Music Alive and Cleveland-area School of Rock locations, and supported by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, the free event takes place Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Level O of the Rock Hall. Medieval Monsters

The Cleveland Museum of Art is a world-class institution, and incredibly, admission is free, except for many touring exhibits that stop there. But even a few of those are free, including “Medieval Monsters: Terrors, Aliens and Wonders.” The last day to see it is Sunday, Oct. 6. Organized by New York’s Morgan Library & Museum, this major exhibition looks at how monsters were portrayed in the Middle Ages. For details, visit here.

Open Air in Market Square

This fun outdoor event in Ohio City is winding down, with just two more Saturdays this year, Oct. 5 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shoppers will find unique local vendors to explore at Market Square Park, directly across West 25th Street from the West Side Market. One of the highlights is a dunk tank. Those volunteering to be dunked will be hoping for warm weather. For details, click here.

St. Stanislaus Polish Festival

The Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus is hosting its annual celebration Friday to Sunday, Oct. 4 to 6, in Cleveland’s Slavic Village. Sample the rich heritage of St. Stanislaus with live polka bands, Polish dancers, games of chance, church tours, and food such as pierogies and kielbasa. Jimmy K performs Friday night, Lenny Gomulka and Chicago Push play Saturday night, and The Nu-Tones hit the stage Sunday afternoon. Gertrude Gardens Art Opening

The Visit Arts Collective is opening its new art installation, “Suite Gertrude,” on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the northwest corner of East 65th Street and Gertrude Avenue. Come see how a vacant lot was transformed into an active greenspace featuring perennial gardens, fruit trees and a 120-foot art frame designed to accommodate an array of different art mediums. Cleveland Playwrights Festival

See new works by local authors, hear a live recording of a radio play, attend open classes and craft talks, and mingle with playwrights and theater buffs at the fifth annual event, presented by Playwrights Local. PNC Fairfax Connection’s 7th Annual Celebration

The community hub commemorates seven years in the Fairfax neighborhood Saturday, Oct. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 8220 Carnegie Ave. The event is open to the public and features children's activities, entertainment, food, and games. Special guests include Purple Honker from "Sesame Street" as well as Eco Explorers, the mobile outreach vehicle powered by PNC, designed to bring free environmental education programs to preschool and kindergarten-age students. BrownBag Concerts

The Decho Ensemble performs on vintage Buescher saxophones at noon Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Trinity Cathedral, 2230 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. The trio consists of Jacob Swanson, Sarah Marchitelli, and Jared Yackiw. The free lunchtime concerts, which take place most Wednesdays, began 42 years ago. Cuyahoga Arts & Culture is a sponsor. Kielbasa Cookout

Live rock and polka music will be playing as smoked kielbasas are roasted over an open fire at the third annual event in Slavic Village. The Fleet Stakeholders, with support from Slavic Village Development, are hosting the family-friendly event from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at 5708 Fleet Ave. In addition to kids activities and a raffle, four bands will play: The Good Knights deliver oldies, bluegrass and blues; Funny Business performs beach-inspired rock; Blue Cadillac belts out classic rock; and the Tom Katrenich Orchestra does polka. Oddmall is hosting a Halloween edition of its large exhibition of art and artifice. Behind-the-Scenes - Pipeline

Behind-the-Scenes events give audiences insight into the artistic process of Cleveland Play House actors and directors. The latest of these intimate sessions, Monday, Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., is tied to “Pipeline.” The drama runs from Oct. 12 to Nov. 3 at Playhouse Square’s Outcalt Theatre, 1407 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.
