Livin' on the 'Edge'
Cleveland Metroparks' Edgewater Park is rocking every Thursday through August 10. Each week, Edgewater Live features two stages of live music, kicking off at 4:30 p.m. with local musicians on the new Centennial Stage, then transitioning to featured acts on the big stage from 6 to 9 p.m.
Food trucks, yoga, volleyball and Edgewater's two-story Beach House enhance the party atmosphere. For more information, visit the Edgewater Live website.
The good fight
Rocky River Presbyterian Church, 21750 Detroit Ave., is hosting a cancer-fighting fundraiser on Sunday, July 23 to benefit Cook for your LIFE, a nonprofit that empowers cancer patients and survivors to improve their lives, one meal at a time.
The festival begins at 11:30 a.m. with a picnic lunch. Music, games and a raffle round up the daytime portion of the event, which ends at 2. From 6 to 9 p.m., guests can enjoy a dinner catered by Piada Italian Street Food along with entertainment featuring local musicians, most of whom are cancer survivors. Run, Cleveland, run
Hofbrauhaus Cleveland is known for its German delicacies and fresh Hofbräu beer brewed onsite, but the city's largest beer hall is also host to one of the most festive summertime races in Northeast Ohio.
The Hofbrauhaus's annual 5K and 10K race takes place this year on Sunday, August 6. New for 2017 is a half marathon, which begins at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K and 10K at 8 a.m. Racers get a custom t-shirt, timing results, finishing medal and age group awards. After the morning's sweating and heart palpations, participants can cash in their one free beer and a brat while listening to live music from The Casuals and Joey Tomsick and the Shotski's. Runners can register online or onsite at Hofbrauhaus the morning of the event.
