Eternal flame
From June 19 through June 21, a torch will be passed 100 miles down the Cuyahoga River as part of the Xtinguish Celebration—making appearances at various festivals along the way from Kent to Akron to Cuyahoga Falls to Peninsula. Ojibwe water walker Sharon Day will lead a group in walking the full 100-mile stretch, starting with a special Native American water blessing at Headwaters Park and ultimately concluding their journey at Rivergate Park. Take me to the river
Just before the landmark anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire, LAND studio will host PechaKucha Night: Waterways at Jacobs Pavilion as part of the Cuyahoga50 festivities. This epic event will feature lively presentations on clean water issues from thought leaders and activists from all over the world in the unique PechaKucha format (20 slides at 20 seconds each). The event takes place on Thursday, June 20, at 8 p.m. and advance registration is requested.

Over the riverbend and through the lens
As part of the Cleveland Foundation's Creative Fusion: Waterways to Waterways initiative, Ethiopian photojournalist Michael Tsegaye will display his Cuyahoga River collection at the Cleveland Print Room on Friday, June 21. Tsegaye has captured Ohio’s most famous river from an aerial view and from the bank itself. The exhibition will officially be open to the public at 5 p.m., and the exhibit will remain open to the public through August 3. Learn more here.

Keeping the Great Lakes great
On Friday, June 21, national and regional leaders will convene at Huntington Convention Center's Grand Ballroom for 2019 State of the Great Lakes to discuss the past, present, and future of environmental policy as it applies to our region. Speakers include Shanelle L. Smith (The Trust for Public Land), Dr. David Orr (Oberlin College), and Christine Todd Whitman (former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency).

Light up the night
The Burning River Boat Parade sets sail on Saturday, June 22, from 9:30 to 11 p.m. More than 50 brightly decorated boats will travel from Whiskey Island to Merwin's Wharf in celebration of Cuyahoga50—competing for prizes and showing their CLE pride. To learn more or register your boat, click here.

River reborn
On Saturday, June 22, commemorate the infamous Cuyahoga River fire by celebrating how far the river has come at the River Reborn Celebration. Emcee-d by The City Club's Dan Moulthrop, the event will feature various local and state officials speaking on 50 years' worth of progress in public health and water quality, along with future plans for water sustainability. The event will also feature the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Towpath Trail phase, as well as free ice cream and live music. Our water has come a long way, baby—now it's time to do our part to keep it that way. On Sunday, June 23, Drink Local Drink Tap will host a beach cleanup at Perkins Beach; the event is part of a series of beach cleanups DLDT is hosting this summer. Click here to learn more.

Clean water rocks
Celebrate a more sustainable Cleveland from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, at North Coast Harbor—where both the Great Lakes Science Center and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host a day's worth of free Cuyahoga50 festivities. The day's schedule includes live music performances from The Labra Brothers and Hey Marvis; a live science demo; an appearance by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.; and food truck fare for purchase.
