The best things in life are free, indeed, and our monthly "Free Stamp" feature rounds up all of the free #CLE events that get our "stamp" of approval. Got a free event you want us to include? Drop us a line here.
That’s a w(rap)
Hip-hop and rap fanatics alike should be sure to clear their calendars on February 7 at 7 p.m. for a free Q & A at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Lil Eazy-E and 2016 Inductee DJ Yella of N.W.A. The audience is invited to engage with the artists about their journeys to stardom before enjoying a live DJ demonstration. RSVP here to learn about how this duo has made their marks on the hip-hop industry (limit of eight tickets per transaction). For those who can’t make it, the event will be live streamed on the Rock Hall’s Facebook Page.
For the love of the game
Ever wonder about the romantic lives of some of baseball’s greatest players—legends like Joe DiMaggio, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, Ray Chapman, and Lou Gehrig? In honor of Valentine’s Day, Baseball Heritage Museum Administrator Margaret Reardon and Director of Education Joe Gazzo will share some of the game’s best love stories from 1 to 2 p.m. on February 10. Looking to make a love connection of your own? Stick around after the talk for a chance to mix and mingle over refreshments and a tour. Register for this free event here.
Wine about Valentine’s Day
On February 14, love will be in the air at CLE Urban Winery. OPUS 216's strings duo will perform a mix of romantic classical music and creative covers, providing the perfect backdrop for sharing locally produced wine. Get more information on the free festivities here.
Or whine about Valentine’s Day
For the decidedly single—or anyone who eschews romantic holiday shenanigans—the Anti-Valentine's Day party fun at Wild Eagle Saloon beckons on February 10. Join your fellow anti-Cupids at the "Inebriation Station" to discuss how much you think love stinks. While there is no cover charge, reservations are recommended here.
The hive’s abuzz
Cleveland’s newest co-working space and tech education hub officially opens to the public on March 1, but on February 22, you can get a look inside the 13,000-square-foot Midtown Tech Hive at the Health-Tech Corridor Happy Hour. Explore the amenities over refreshments alongside other entrepreneurs and innovators from 5:30 to 8 p.m. RSVP here.
Wine, women, and web design
There are a million reasons to have a website and zero reasons you can’t build it yourself. On February 27, head to the Tech Elevator from 6 to 9 p.m. to learn some of the fundamental tools of web design at this free workshop. By the time you leave this ladies' night, you’ll have created an “About Me” page for your site. Check here for tech specs, prep materials, and the link to register.
