In the House 
It's a big month for LaunchHouse, with the grand opening of its Lakewood location taking place tonight! Join the popular coworking community for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, refreshments, and tours of the space—click here for more information. Other free events this month include a B.Y.O.D. (bring your own dog!) happy hour tomorrow, June 7; lunch + learn events on email marketing (June 14) and conflict resolution (June 28); and another happy hour scheduled for June 21.

The Heat Is On
A read through local author Annie Hogsett's Murder to the Metal is like a tour through Cleveland—with mentions of Beach Club Bistro, Slyman’s, Waterloo Arts District, the Marriott at Key Center, and the Memorial Nottingham Branch of the Cleveland Public Library. Join Hogsett and other authors on Saturday, June 9, at 1:15 p.m. for a panel at Killer Heat, the free mystery conference at the library’s South Euclid/Lyndhurst Branch. Walk The Walk
As part of We Plan CLE 2018, APA Cleveland will be offering free Jane’s Walks—inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs—to explore the idea of equity in the Detroit Shoreway and Union Miles neighborhoods. Both walks will be held on Monday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m., with the former focused on climate equity and the latter exploring economic equity. More information here.

For the Love of CLE
The City Club of Cleveland and the Cleveland Foundation are joining forces yet again for “For the Love of Cleveland” lunchtime series—this time with a focus on “The Power of Place.” Each Tuesday in June features a different topic: "Architecture: Balancing Form and Function" (June 12); "Public Health: Why Parks Matter" (June 19); "Narrative: If These Spaces Could Talk" (June 26). Events are held at Public Square at noon on Tuesdays, with guest speakers, food trucks, and thought-provoking conversation. Get more info on this series and other City Club events here.

Just Ducky
Things could get sticky at the 15^th annual Duck Tape Festival, slated for June 14-16 in Avon. From giant sculptures to one-of-a-kind outfits, this lively and free annual ode to duct tape doesn't disappoint. This year's event is construction-themed, and along with the usual fare (such as a parade and fashion show), the festival will debut new elements including a car show, movie night, and the Tractor Supply Company Fair Tour and Experience. Plus, the first 500 visitors each day get a free roll of duck tape! See what else is on the (duck) bill here. 

Take the Bait
Billed as a cross between You’ve Got Mail and Hitch, the new fiction book Switch and Bait by Cleveland native Ricki Schultz is what Publishers Weekly calls a “politics-flavored contemporary romance.” Join Schultz for a free book signing event at Barnes & Noble's Eton Chagrin Boulevard location on Thursday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Hit the Dugout with Dad
Looking for a fun Father's Day outing? Hit League Park for the Baseball Heritage Museum's "Play Catch with Dad" event—which serves as a fitting warmup to its plans to break a world record for the Largest Game of Catch in 2019. Hang out and play catch on the field, enter an on-site book giveaway, and get the chance to be the first to sign up for the fun in 2019. The event is being held on Sunday, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Savvy Sips
The Health-Tech Corridor will be hopping on June 18 with a happy hour at BurkleHagen Photography Studio from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Hang out in a 6,000-square-foot warehouse space that was once a 100-year-old milk factory, enjoy prime city views, and sip cocktails amongst Cleveland's leading innovators. University Circle's new Uptown Series has something for everyone, from "Shape-Up Sundays" (free workouts every Sunday through September) to the "Out to Lunch Series" (lunchtime live music and talks every Friday through September). Summer in Shaker
Shaker Heights will host its first-ever Come, Play! Fest on Saturday, June 23, from 12 to 6 p.m. This summer street fair will be held in the Moreland neighborhood, replete with old-school lawn games, races, crafts, music, and food. Smooth Sounds
Shaker Square is once again hosting a free summer concert series, with the first installments taking place on June 23 (Swamp Boogie Band) and June 30 (The Discovery Band). See the lineup and get all the info here.

Hero Style
Join United Way of Greater Cleveland on Wednesday, June 27, for its first-ever community celebration! Cleveland-based blues-rock band Welshly Arms will take the stage at Public Square for the "Heroes Unite" event, meant to celebrate Greater Cleveland's everyday heroes. Along with live music, there will also be superhero-themed activities like a video game virtual reality simulator, games of skill, and photo opps with real-life caped crusaders. Get more 411 here.

Forever Plaid
On June 1, the Cleveland History Center of the Western Reserve Historical Society debuted its Mad for Plaid exhibit—exploring the history of plaid in fashion and beyond. As part of the exhibit, the center will also host a new monthly program called "Style-Me Saturdays," which are free with standard $10 museum admission. Get an insider's peek at additional pieces from the collection that didn't make the show, take part in hands-on activities, and hang out with the Museum Advisory Council Curator of Costumes & Textiles.
