Embark On a Musical Odyssey
The LD Steps Out series continues on November 1st with a free concert based on Les Délices’ acclaimed CD “Myths and Allegories.” A musical treat that will delight the ears and stir your heart, the program is inspired by Homer’s Odyssey. Presenting the production at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Ohio City—one of the last stops on the Underground Railroad—adds spiritual synergy to this French Baroque collection. Unlock Cleveland's Secrets
Whether you’re brand-new to town or you’ve lived here your entire life, there are probably some hidden nooks and crannies of the #CLE you’ve never seen. Deb Thompson and Tonya Prater explore 90 often-overlooked gems in their new book Secret Cleveland: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure. The authors will be on hand to sign copies during the International Women’s Air & Space Museum’s Annual Book Sale and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, November 4th, from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. The event is free, but breakfast is a suggested $5 donation. 

The Fairest of Them All
Drones, robots, and dragons, oh my! The Cleveland Public Library's Mini Maker Faire is back for a fifth installment. Set to take place Saturday, November 4th, this annual gathering showcases creativity in the CLE by celebrating Northeast Ohio's maker scene. Highlights this year will include Heavy meta, a 30-foot-long, fireball-shooting metal dragon; the Tesla Orchestra, a quartet of musical tesla coils that convert music into lightning bolts; and NASA Glenn Research Center's traveling exhibit, “Journey to Tomorrow." Along with workshops, demos, and exhibits, the Faire will also provide opportunities to get hands-on with the department's 3D printers, laser engraver, and vinyl printer/cutter. Stay Golden
The Cleveland Public Theater’s Education Department and the Cleveland YMCA’s Y-Haven program team up to bring you an original production written and performed by formerly homeless men using theater arts to facilitate their recovery from substance abuse and mental health issues. “Golden” is billed as a compelling exploration of greed, friendship, and the impact of stories on our humanity. Free performances will be held at Cleveland Public Theater on November 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, with various other shows around town through November 12th—click here for a full listing.  

Buzzin’ ‘Bout Tech

If so, be sure to pop by Dunham Tavern’s Barn on November 9th for “Beer at the Barn,” hosted by DigitalC’s soon-to-open MidTown Tech Hive. Pizza and beer will be served, and representatives will be on hand to discuss everything from their upcoming class schedule to co-working opportunities at their new facility inside Cleveland’s historic Kissel Car Building.  

Get Lit in Lakewood
Santa Claus is comin’ to town December 2nd for the 11th annual Light Up Lakewood event. Kick off the daylong fest by grabbing a slice with the jolly old elf at Dewey’s Pizza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., then stroll through Lakewood's downtown district to enjoy live music, hot chocolate, food trucks, and lots more. This popular event is sure to put even the Bah-humbug-iest Scrooge in the holiday spirit with everything from twinkly lights and cheerful carolers to a spectacular parade and winter fireworks display.
