These days, every day is a party for Catherine Blubaugh. After all, the owner of the new Oh Pink! Party Shop lives and breathes party supplies while she puts the final touches on her Ohio City storefront to gear up for its June 15th grand opening. But make no mistake—this is not your average strip-mall party shop.

Oh Pink! will carry all the accoutrements to throw an Instagram-worthy soiree, as well as stationary and gifts like jewelry and candles from both local and national artists and makers like Red Cap Cards, Amy Heitman, and Sunny Life.

“I wanted the shop to be really upbeat and fun and promote this 'Every day is a party' kind of [mentality],” says Blubaugh. “The goal is to be a one-stop shop for everything you need.”

The shop’s colorful aesthetic—with a rainbow of hues popping against its pink walls—owes a lot to her background. Born and raised in Cleveland, Blubaugh left to attend college at University of Cincinnati, earning a degree in Interior Design. She worked in corporate branding for two years before deciding corporate life wasn’t right for her, leaving to work in a friend’s stationary and gift shop.

“I just loved being surrounded by beautiful objects all day long and talking with people and helping them find that right gift,” she says. “I realized that was my passion and what I wanted to do.”

Looking for a change of pace from Cincinnati, she opted to bring her carefully cultivated eye for design and corporate marketing experience home to Cleveland. Blubaugh fell in love with Ohio City as the right spot for her shop, and plans to fully immerse herself in the neighborhood once she finds an apartment there.

The bright, sunny shop just south of Lorain Avenue celebrates its debut on Saturday, June 15, with an all-day-long blowout complete with a giveaway, refreshments, and likely the best decorations in town. After she opens, Blubaugh hopes to eventually host events and workshops on things like card-making and weaving wall decorations.

But in the meantime, she’s focused on getting up and running.

“I'm hoping that this will bring something different to the neighborhood and it'll be appreciated and welcomed and people will love to have me here as much as I love to be here,” she says.
