Jylian Herring

Jylian Herring is a current journalism student at Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She has previously worked with two student-run campus magazines and is also a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She enjoys writing about topics such as social justice and locally owned businesses. When Jylian isn't giving her time to one of her student organizations, she likes to listen to podcasts and try new restaurants.

Karin Connelly Rice
Karin Connelly Rice enjoys telling people's stories, whether it's a promising startup or a life's passion. Over the past 20 years she has reported on the local business community for publications such as Inside Business and Cleveland Magazine. She was editor of the Rocky River/Lakewood edition of In the Neighborhood and was a reporter and photographer for the Amherst News-Times. At Fresh Water she enjoys telling the stories of Clevelanders who are shaping and embracing the business and research climate in Cleveland.
Kathleen Osborne

Kathleen Osborne is the mother of three children who now are legally considered adults, although she has trouble assigning that label to herself. She is the marketing and communication director at Hathaway Brown School, where she’s inspired by creative, smart, and confident girls every day.

Katie McMenamin
Katie McMenamin has written across a range of platforms, from broadcast news and published novels to promotional brochures and back cover blurbs. With her sister, she created a home organization business that transformed into a blog, a website, and then the book, "Organize Your Way: Simple Strategies for Every Personality." With her dad, she has published three historical thrillers, most recently "The Prussian Memorandum". She is a proud Cleveland native who returned home after 25 years and is now happily ensconced back in The Land of Champions

Kaylyn Hlavaty is a freelance journalist based in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to relocating back to the states, Kaylyn reported about humanitarian, social, cultural, and refugee-related issues in the Middle East. Her work has appeared in The Washington Times, The Plain Dealer, Cleveland Magazine, Al MonitorBELT Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, MIT Tech Review, among others.

Kelsey Lauriel
Kelsey Lauriel joined FreshWater Cleveland in May 2020 as a journalism intern. She is a senior at Ohio University majoring in journalism with a minor in sports administration. She is passionate about all things Cleveland, especially Cleveland sports.She's especially fond of the Browns and the Indians.
Ken Schneck

Ken Schneck is the Editor of The Buckeye Flame, Ohio’s LGBTQ+ news and views digital platform. He is the author of Seriously…What Am I Doing Here? The Adventures of a Wondering and Wandering Gay Jew (2017), LGBTQ Cleveland (2018), LGBTQ Columbus (2019), and LGBTQ Cincinnati. For 10 years, he was the host of This Show is So Gay, the nationally-syndicated radio show. In his spare time, he is a Professor of Education at Baldwin Wallace University, teaching courses in ethical leadership, antiracism, and how individuals can work with communities to make just and meaningful change.

Kyle Wilson, who grew up in Glenville, has directed a number of short films and won several awards. He also has written several scripts that he is shopping around to independent film producers.
La Queta Worley
La Queta Worley was born and raised in the Central community, where she is active in neighborhood improvement efforts. Even though her address represents the Union-Miles neighborhood, she is currently working on getting back to her roots. She enjoys doing non-profit work and is a Baptist Christian at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church in Central, where she volunteers with the youth and teen ministries every Sunday.
 
Lauren R. Pacini
Lauren R. Pacini is an architectural photographer and local history author. He began photographing the Cultural Gardens in 2008, and in 2019 he partnered with Cleveland historian John J. Grabowski, the Krieger-Mueller joint professor in history at Case Western University and historian and senior vice president at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Together they created Cleveland’s Cultural Gardens: A Landscape of Diversity, the first book on the topic since Clara Lederer’s book, "Their Paths Are Peace," launched in 1954.
Lee Chilcote
Lee Chilcote is founder and editor of The Land. He is the author of the poetry chapbooks The Shape of Home and How to Live in Ruins. His writing has been published by Vanity Fair, Next City, Belt and many literary journals as well as in The Cleveland Neighborhood Guidebook, The Cleveland Anthology and A Race Anthology: Dispatches and Artifacts from a Segregated City. He is a founder and former executive director of Literary Cleveland. He lives in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood of Cleveland with his family.
